You are invited to join a small group for spiritual growth and faith formation through praying, serving, and studying with others.
Adults are invited to visit and explore the many opportunities for personal growth and enrichment in any of the following classes. All classes and groups welcome guests and new members. Please contact the Director of Christian Education for additional direction or information.

F.U.N. (Families Uniting Nurturing) (30+)
Participants in the group share the common bond of children from middle school through college, and enjoy sharing the experiences of life changes and challenges with the group. Studies vary, but always relate to the Bible, what it means to each person, and how it applies to a person's daily life. Group members face many of the same issues as other Christians in this age group, and find encouragement and support in facing them together, and loving and supporting one another in times of need. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am, upstairs in Room 200.
F.Y.I. (Families Young and Involved)
This class provides a place where parents of young children can come together for support, study, encouragment, mission and fun. In addition to Sunday school each week, this group gathers regularly for social events, has published a church cookbook, and participates in any number of other church activities and events. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am, upstairs in Room 213.
Genesis (30+)
The Genesis class appreciates the importance of Christian fellowship and mutual support of group members. Study focuses on the Bible and how it applies to day-to-day living. The group values the friendship and fellowship developed through studying, worshipping and socializing together, as well as celebrating and supporting each other through the joys and sorrows of life. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am, upstairs in Room 201.
Ordinary People (45+)
The desire of this class is to increase each person's strength in Christian faith and facilitate its application to daily life. This class studies a variety of topics ranging from the history of the Bible and the early church to what the Bible can teach about the issues and problems we all face in life today. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am in Clayton Hall.
Revelations (35+)
The Revelations class offers spiritual growth and Christian fellowship in an environment that is easygoing and open. The class has an interest in exploring Scripture and its application to daily living, and has a strong emphasis on being a caring community in service to its members. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am in Clayton Hall.
Rewired (40+)
A spirited and caring group of praying Christians dedicated to active discussions of spiritual issues. The class seeks to increase the bond between its members and Jesus Christ, its members and each other, and its members and Plainfield United Methodist Church. To achieve this mission, a range of topics, teachers, and activities are offered providing opportunities for spiritual growth. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am in Clayton Hall.
Young Professionals - Journey
This class of young singles and couples draws support and encouragement for daily living from others in the group. Group members represent all walks of life and all levels of Bible knowledge. Through Bible study, the group strives to explore the Scriptures to learn the relevance of the Bible for daily living and personal enrichment. This group is attentive to the needs of others as it works to reflect the love of Jesus Christ to the world. Class meets each Sunday at 9:45am, upstairs in Room 210.
Membership Discovery Class (All Ages)
The Membership Discovery Class is a small group for those who new to the church or interested in church membership. Those looking for a church home or wanting to learn more about the ministries and programs at Plainfield United Methodist Church are invited to attend. The sessions are designed specifically for guests and newcomers, but church members will enjoy making new friends and discovering new ideas, as well. This class gives participants the opportunity to learn about the ministries and mission of PUMC and to meet PUMC clergy and representatives from various ministry areas. Weekday Small Groups
Bible Study with Pastor Ron Mercer
This excellent Bible study class is named for its outstanding principle teacher. Participants will enjoy this class because of the excellent weekly Bible lessons and the wonderful fellowship with caring people. The class is a diverse group of adults who come to explore and support the fundamentals of Christian faith through fun, spirituality, and engaging discussions that promote Christian living and purpose. This class meets Thursdays, Sept-May, at 9:00am in Room 24.
Prayer and Share
The focus of this small group is to prayer for the needs of group members, the church and community. The group also previews the worship Scripture and theme for the following Sunday. Prayer and Share meets meets Wednesdays, 6:30pm in the Koinonia Room.
Women's Bible Study
Join this group of women for fellowship, spiritual encouragment, and Bible study. This class meets Fridays, 9:45am in Room 24.
Women's Prayer Group
Women of all ages and stages are invited to this group for intentional faith formation. This class meets Tuesdays, 8:00am in Room 24.
F.Y.I. (Families Young and Involved) (Parents of young children)
This class provides spiritual and emotional encouragement to parents of young children. Through Bible study, social events, and missional service participants grow in faith and in their ability to raise faithful children. This class meets upstairs on Sunday mornings in room 213 at 9:45am on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and 11:00am on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
